Sona, a runaway bride? Give Sonakshi Sinha a luxury car on her wedding day, and she’ll run away without getting married! Well, that’s what she said at the BMW India Bridal Fashion Week curtain raiser, after unveiling the new BMW 6 Series Gran Coupe. When Philipp von Sahr, president, BMW Group India, welcomed Sonakshi, the face of the fashion week, to the stage, he said, “We have a car for you, now we’ll just have to look for a groom for you.” Sonakshi quipped, “It is difficult to find a groom for me anyway, and if you give me that car, I won’t be a bride anymore.
I’ll be a runaway bride.”
Bridal bling: Runaway bride or not, there were lots of ‘brides’ on the runway for sure. After former Miss India
Sarah Jane Dias, the emcee, started the event, models gave a preview of the collections of participating designers Abu Jani-Sandeep Khosla, Ashima Leena, Falguni & Shane Peacock, Gauri & Nainika,
JJ Valaya, Jyotsna Tiwari, Shantanu & Nikhil,
Suneet Varma and
Tarun Tahiliani. The designers will show their collections in Delhi, Mumbai, Bengaluru, Chennai, Hyderabad, Ahmedabad and Chandigarh as part of the fashion week this year.
The car connect: Philipp von Sahr said, “Our brand doesn’t just stand for brilliant automotive engineering, but the desire to evoke emotions and spread joy as well. Likewise, an Indian wedding is a celebration of emotions, aesthetics, craftsmanship and opulence. We too celebrate these values that are cherished by our clients. This fashion week is the perfect platform for the launch of this car, which combines absolute luxury and immaculate design with an adrenalin-pumping performance.” The new car is now available at all BMW dealerships across India.
